This isn't just a nice idea. It's backed by real research. A University study found that rotating cattle through a twelve-paddock system every two days led to a 38% higher stocking rate and 37% more calf gain per acre, with carrying capacity increasing by as much as 69% in some cases.

Put that in real terms: on a 100-acre farm, that's the difference between running 25 cows on continuous grazing and 42 cows on a rotational system. If those extra calves bring in $1,250 each, that's over $21,000 more in your pocket every year, from the same land.

Closer to home, farmers who've switched to strip-grazing have reported cutting their hay feed by more than half, just by rationing pasture more carefully through the season.

How It Actually Works

A common setup: run two parallel lines of polywire and ration a fresh strip of pasture every day or two. As animals graze it down, roll up the back wire and move it forward. They get fresh grass, and the ground behind them gets to rest.
