Care information

Feeding Guidelines

CattlActive® is a free-choice, self-fed supplement. Place the tub in a dry, accessible location in the pasture or range where all cattle can reach it. Cattle will self-regulate their intake based on nutritional need.

  • Beef and dairy cattle: Approximately 200–400g per head per day under normal conditions
  • Cows in late gestation or lactation may consume more — this is normal
  • During drought or when forage quality is poor, intake will naturally increase — monitor and add tubs as needed
  • For large herds, provide one tub per 20–30 head to ensure all animals have adequate access
  • Place near water sources and shade to encourage use by all animals and maximize garlic fly deterrence coverage

Natural Garlic Fly Deterrence

The garlic compounds in CattlActive® are absorbed and excreted through the skin and breath, creating a natural fly and insect deterrent. For best results:

  • Introduce tubs 2–4 weeks before peak fly season for maximum effectiveness
  • Ensure consistent access so cattle maintain steady garlic intake throughout the season
  • Results are cumulative — fly deterrence improves as garlic builds up in the animal's system

Storage

Tubs are weather-resistant and suitable for outdoor use. Storing under shelter will extend product life. Keep lid on when not in use to prevent contamination and moisture ingress.

Important Notes

  • Always ensure fresh, clean water is available — protein supplementation increases water intake.
  • Not a complete feed — use alongside forage, hay, or pasture as part of a balanced diet.
  • Monitor body condition scores regularly and adjust forage and supplementation accordingly.
  • Consult your veterinarian or livestock nutritionist for specific herd requirements.
