The heaviest of the dual purpose breeds having been around for over 90 years; it now holds the
distinction of being one of the hardiest breeds to be found. A good producer of quality brown eggs, they
are very quiet and docile birds in the laying pen, good for the yard and have a beautiful colour pattern.

Live weight for hens will be approximately 4 lbs at 19 weeks and close to 6 lbs at end of lay.

The cockerels can be expected to be approximately 1½ lbs heavier than the hens.
