Mad Barn Jiaogulan Fine Powder 1kg
Jiaogulan powder supports circulation, respiratory health and muscle function in horses. It is often used as nutritional support for horses with laminitis and insulin resistance. Dr. Eleanor Kellon of the ECIR Group has found this supplement can improve pain symptoms and support soundness in laminitic horses.
Mad Barn’s bulk Jiaogulan powder (Gynostemma Pentaphyllum) is used to support healthy circulation, respiration and joints in horses and ponies.
The Jiaogulan vine has a long history of use in Traditional Chinese Medicine where it is believed to enhance vitality, energy, stress relief and performance. Research shows that it exhibits antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and can support respiratory function.
In horses, Jiaogulan is commonly used for its ability to increase nitric oxide production in blood vessel cells (vascular endothelium). It acts as a vasodilator, increasing blood flow throughout the body.
This has potential benefits for laminitic horses, helping to promote repair of the hoof. It is sometimes used in combination with AAKG (Arginine-alpha-ketoglutarate) to improve hoof health in cold weather conditions or due to damaged AVA (Arteriovenous anastomoses) shunts.
It is commonly given to horses affected by metabolic conditions such as Insulin Resistance (IR) and Cushing’s disease (PPID). It is also used in performance horses to improve the maintenance and repair of muscles, tendons and ligaments. It may be provided as nutritional support to horses recovering from muscle injuries or horses showing signs of a stiff gait.
Jiaogulan powder is also used with Spirulina to support respiratory health. It has been studied in horses to ease symptoms of airway disease due to its vasodilative properties. It may work by protecting the lungs when exposed to environmental irritants such as dust and mold spores.
In Chinese Medicine, Jiaogulan is believed to act as an adaptogen, regulating normal cortisol levels in the body. It works by supporting the body’s natural repair pathways.
